Footage being filmed at this week's The Gathering, the longest running underground hip-hop event in Philly, will be used in an upcoming ad for the sneaker-maker. There will also be the usual suspects of local hip-hop spinning and rhyming, like OCD (Moosh & Twist), Reda and Leggy, including a featured live performance from Finesse and The Rebel yell. Open cyphas and a tag wall are also in effect.

Most events are freeOfficially already underway with educational events, this vast festival celebrating Philadelphia's role in Independence Day hits various hotspots like Chinatown, Citizens Bank Park and Penn's Landing, and includes
dozens of events like block parties, ice cream festivals, concerts, and parades. The festival culminates with the Party on the Parkway (20th to Eakins Oval) from noon-7 p.m. on July 4, with fireworks and The Roots to follow from 7-10 p.m.

Philadelphia Film and Video Association (PIFVA) presents a screening and community dialogue on this half-hour documentary that centers on the Mexican community's rapid growth in South Philly and as a way to enter into the immigration debate. Directed by Philly filmmakers Leticia Roa Nixon, Carlos Pascual Sanchez and Laura Deutch, the film chronicles first-hand experiences of Mexicans' assimilation here. Members of new nonprofit alliance Alianza will be on hand to facilitate discussion of related issues.
