Old City / Society Hill

It's fitting that the area where William Penn and the Quakers first settled near the Delaware River is now home to some of Philadelphia's most trendy restaurants and nightspots. The Old City Historic District complements Society Hill's charm, which boasts the largest concentration of original 18th and 19th century architecture, complete with cobblestone streets and brick rowhouses. First Friday, or any weekend night for that matter, is a must-see here, where neighborhood art galleries and lounges teem with revelers. By day, co-working community Independents Hall brings some of the most innovative minds to its facility on 3rd Street.
