Since
we profiled amazing paper cutout artist Joe Boruchow, he has had his most productive year to date. Come see why at his old stomping ground, where Shape Shifting will feature work from several commissioned, site-specific installations and inspired experiments with simple shapes such as circle, squares, diamonds, rectangles and arches. This is Boruchow's 10th solo exhibition at The Bean, and it will be on display until Dec. 13.
earSnake Premiere of Pangaea: When the Continents Were One

Philadelphia-based electronic musician and composer Michael McDermott, aka
Mikronesia, is definitely up to something different with earSnake. In collaboration with a number of vocalists, Mikronesia has created a multimedia opera called Pangaea: When the Continents Were One. It's a mix of electronic, chamber, rock, hip-hop and experimental tones, plus puppetry, film, sculpture and installation.

This group exhibition with an international focus is inspired by two North Philly creatives.
The show is curated by Natasha Mell-Taylor at a gallery housed inside a 30,000 square-foot formerly abandoned building occupied by artist Jenn Proacci. Mell-Taylor and Proacci intend to produce an explosion of artistic collaboration based on the assortment of creators they've met during their travels and studies. Exhibition runs through Dec. 1.
