Play Space Design Competition Launch & Reception

Get a foot in the door and create your dream team for the upcoming national Play Space Design Competition. Head over to the Center for Architecture and meet others interested in learning about the three competition sites over drinks and hors d'oeuvres. The nationwide contest will see what team can create the most innovative outdoor play spaces for a Philly library, school or recreation center. 

Play Space is an initiative of the Community Design Collaborative and the Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children -- it hopes to explore the design of innovative urban play spaces, and improve the quality of child care and early education in Philly.

Liberty: Unplugged! Town Hall

The Mann Center for the Performing Arts and NEWorks Productions have come together to present 2015 Liberty: Unplugged! This forum engages young scholars in three crucial topics: modern-day slavery, voting rights and human rights. Actor and activist Hill Harper will act as moderator; the event will include a Twitter Town Hall, Poetry Slam and United We Band. The whole thing will be streamed and live-tweeted, allowing scholars across the nation to be involved. Be sure to register for the event as space is limited.

Sittin' In

You never know what you're going to hear when you head the Kimmel Center's Sittin' In.  Sessions have been known to blend horns, vinyl, MCs and more, turning the show into a dance party/jam session combo! This session will be hosted by Julie Dexter, and feature Emcee Ciarra and The IIIVibe Collective. Doors open at 8 p.m. with a DJ, followed by live music at 9 p.m.
