The ever-growing intersection of art and technology has created cutting-edge works and methods that push boundaries and lift those who experience them to new levels of appreciation. Applying the same tactics to the organizations responsible for generating much of Greater Philadelphia's world-class arts and culture can have an even bigger impact.

That's part of the goal of the Arts and Business Council of Greater Philadelphia's Technology Connectors program. The program partners with technology companies and professionals to assist the regional arts and cultural community with using technology strategically and effectively. Technology Connectors are now seeking volunteers to commit 5-10 hours per month for its 2011 projects, which run from January to June. The program is looking for technology professionals with at least five years experience and skills in project management, customer relationship management, web design/development and social media.

"Arts and cultural groups that participate in our six-month Technology Connectors Strategic Technology Planning program come away with a living technology plan that is aligned with the organization's goals," says Tracey Sisko, Technology Connectors consulting director. "This results in increased advocacy and buy-in on the part of the organization's management and board along with optimized spending on technology."

Volunteer project leaders oversee technology planning with a selected arts group and volunteer subject matter experts provide additional technical expertise as needed. A regional arts center recently benefitted from the Technology Connectors program, receiving more than 115 hours in donated time from a project leader (a $30,000 value) and implementing a customer relationship management platform designed to manage information related to donations, tickets, sales, grants, e-sales and marketing.
