We'll make one promise to our readers for the holiday season: You'll never shop at a mall again if you experience the
Philadelphia Independent Craft Market Holiday Show on Dec. 18.
Slated from 12-7 p.m. this Saturday at
2424 Studios in Fishtown, the PICM's holiday edition boasts more than 40 vendors selling their handmade, vintage and artistic wares, five bands and free refreshments sponsored by Pabst.
If you've been to PICM, you know what to expect. If not, or if you really want to pre-screen your Saturday, here are some of the featured vendors:
- Laura Kaplowitz of
Fight or Flight Jewelry will have pieces from her Women and Time series, which feature found objects, are made from brass and hand-painted designs.
-
Amanda Mello and her
letterpress goods.
- Designer Kevin Mercer of
Largemammal, a gig poster and screen-printing specialist.
The musical lineup is just as impressive and includes TJ Kong and the Atomic Bomb, Joe Duffey's Underwater Window Garden, Sisters 3, David Sweeney and Mike Baker (of The Spinning Leaves) and Rum Rooster and the Farm (Toy Soldiers Duo).
Founded and organized by Julie Raboczi, a crafty gal in her own right, PICM has grown to become a staple of Philadelphia's creative community. And it's an awesome way to spend a December Saturday.
