The 19th edition of this event, presented by the Women's Board of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA), is the country's largest show comprised strictly of American art, with more than 35 vendors and galleries from across the U.S. presenting diverse collections of 18th- through 21st-century works. Thursday is a Preview Gala (5-9 p.m.), Friday is a New Collectors Night (5:30-8 p.m.) and Dealer Talks (1-5 p.m.) are set for Friday and Saturday.

Discounted and free for college students

Campus Philly and the City of Philadelphia are partnering with cultural institutions across the region for a day of discounts and giveaways for college students. Meant as a large, fuzzy, bargain-bearing hug to welcome Philly's new and returning college students, the event boasts dozens of discounts at theaters, museums, restaurants and retailers throughout the region.

Eco lectures, eco car show, eco merchants, children and family activities, mural arts, e-waste drop off, free clothing swaps -- that's only some of what's planned for the ever-growing, ever-eco event. Gasland writer/director/producer Josh Fox will also be around Friday night to pick up his EcoChampion award at Kildare's and a screening of his acclaimed documentary.
