It's hard to believe it’s been five years since we started Flying Kite, our weekly online publication focused on growth and what’s next in Greater Philadelphia. Along with publishing our (almost) weekly issues, we've also had the opportunity to make meaningful connections and provide deeper coverage in neighborhoods across Greater Philadelphia through On the Ground.

Back in Fall 2010, our first birthday 'pop-up' party -- held in the former "Beyond the Wall" poster store on South Street -- actually gave birth to the idea for On the Ground. The initiative aims to dive deep into neighborhood transformation, embedding Flying Kite in a vacant or underutilized storefront or building for 90 days. During that time, we engage with local people, places and companies who are moving the neighborhood and city forward. 

We are currently #OntheGround in Callowhill/Chinatown North, and we've asked our local friends at The Trestle Inn to help us celebrate.

Come out to The Trestle Inn (339 N 11th Street) this Thursday, January 14 from 5:30 - 9 p.m. Light snacks will be provided by Bufad Pizza and The Trestle Inn. DJ Choice Tasters Selectors will spin. And we'll be projecting our favorite masthead images from years past throughout the bar.
