It's that time again:
3rd Thursday in Camden, and this week Flying Kite is throwing an
honest-to-goodness shindig. Head downtown and check out our
Transformation art show (433 Market Street), while also visiting galleries and creative spaces throughout the city. We'll have drinks, snacks, music and work by artists who live or work in the city of Camden.
3rd Thursday is the brainchild of William Butler, owner of
Gallery Eleven One. The event brings people into the city, and encourages them to hop from one space to another.
"Camden's 3rd Thursday Art Crawl creates an environment where residents and visitors alike can experience Camden and its creative community in a positive, inspiring way," says Butler.
And the itinerary isn't limited to art --
Cooper River Distillers, a nascent boutique distiller of rum and whiskey, will also open their doors. Be sure to sneak a peak at their gorgeous copper still.
"We're trying to help support the energy that is already here in Camden," says Flying Kite publisher Michelle Freeman. "When we moved in, the Butlers and others were already hosting an art crawl. They accepted us with open arms and we were easily able to plug in. The downtown area of Camden is walkable and very accessible, both to Camden County and to Center City Philadelphia."
You can also make a night of it across the Delaware --
the Riversharks play at 7:05 p.m. and
Greensgrow is hosting a farmers' market on the
Rutgers-Camden campus from 4 - 7 p.m.
