Exploring the Philly Jazz Legacy

What better way to kick off Halloween than to take a look into the past? Join tour leader Jack McCarthy for a tour around the city, visiting key jazz spots and hearing stories about the legends that once played in those spaces. Philly's history as a jazz hub began in the 1950s, with greats such as John Coltrane, Lee Morgan, Jimmy Smith and Benny Golson all calling Philly home. The tour kicks off near Earle Theatre and moves down South Broad Street.

Mural Arts has joined forces with Klip Collective, a visual art company that uses projection lighting and tech to help clients tell their stories. Throughout the month of October, Klip Collective "re-mixed" various murals from the Mural Arts canon. The October 28 reinterpretation will be of David Guinn's 'Crystal Snowscape' for OpenSource Philadelphia. The show will feature a light and sound translation worthy of Instagram videos!

Manayunk Bridge Trail Celebration

Celebrate the completion of the Manayunk Bridge and be one of the first to cross it! The bridge connects the Cynwyd Heritage Trail in Lower Merion and the Schuylkill River Trail in Philadelphia. Cyclists and runners are all welcome to check out the bridge, and in the spirit of Halloween, costumes are encouraged. The ride/run will conclude in Lower Merion with a catered picnic.
