Bartram's Garden is the oldest botanical garden in America and follows in the tradition of William Bartram, an American explorer and botanical illustrator. Forgotten Chestnut Street
Saturday, July 25
11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
9th & Chestnut (Southwest Corner), Philadelphia
$18
Itchin' to do something different this weekend? Take time to get to know the history of good ol' Chestnut Street. After decades of decline, the street has seen a recent upturn. While old buildings are being torn down or rebuilt, never fear, there's still history to be had! In fact, re-growth will be the theme of this particular history walk. The tour runs from 9th and Chestnut Streets and will go down to Broad, which may seem short, but there is quite a bit of history and architecture between those two points (and perhaps a few brief detours). The tour will be led by GroJLart, a man of mystery who provides a rather entertaining look at history and architecture. (Check out his foul-mouthed architecture blog
here).
