Corn Belt Almanac. Come out for stories, recipes and cooking in the old-timey style of an almanac. The evening includes a tasting and Yards beer paring. Sarah Grey, author of
Friday Night Meatballs, and Jon McGoran, author of
Long Range Meal Planning, will be reading their contributions.

During jazz's heyday, numerous prominent jazz and blues musicians spent time in Philadelphia. John Szwed and Farah Jasmine Griffin will discuss Holiday's time in the city as part of the Bernheimer Symposium. Swezd is an anthropologist, musician and writer who has taught at numerous prestigious institutions. Griffin is professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University who has received a variety of accolades for her teaching and scholarship.
